An electric vehicle’s high-voltage battery
8 years / 160,000 km
- Honda’s factory warranty
- Covers it.
- Honda Plus
- Excludes it.
Does Honda Plus cover hybrids and electric vehicles?
Yes, for the models Honda lists: Civic and Prelude hybrids, Accord and CR-V hybrids, and the Prologue (electric). Your $0 deductible applies on a covered component breakdown, and roadside assistance is included. Among the exclusions: an electric vehicle’s high-voltage battery, which Honda’s factory warranty covers for 8 years / 160,000 km, and charging cables and chargers.
If you are looking for a Honda hybrid extended warranty, the short version is that Honda’s price list sets out its hybrid and electric models in three separate groups, each with its own prices.
This site is about the Honda Plus Extended Warranty for Canadian models of Honda cars, SUVs, minivans and trucks. Prices are in Canadian dollars and distances in kilometres.
Where to get repairs. For a covered repair, have the vehicle taken to the Honda dealer of your choice. Honda says repairs are done by Honda-trained technicians, using Honda parts.

- Prologue (electric)

Which plans have a price on Honda’s list?
For the hybrids, Honda’s price list shows a price for all nine comprehensive plans. Honda’s price list shows no price for the Prologue on the 7-year / 200,000 km, 8-year / 200,000 km and 10-year / 160,000 km plans.

Honda also lists two flexible-term plans whose first period is 4 years / 100,000 km or 5 years / 120,000 km. The list shows a price for both on all three groups. Plan terms include the factory warranty, so “8 years” means 8 years of total coverage counted from delivery, not 8 extra years on top.

What about the high-voltage battery?
For an electric vehicle, Honda’s factory warranty covers the high-voltage battery for 8 years / 160,000 km, and Honda Plus excludes it. For a hybrid, ask an advisor how the contract treats the hybrid battery.
If you drive a hybrid
For a Civic, Prelude, Accord or CR-V hybrid, Honda’s factory warranty covers the hybrid system for 8 years / 160,000 km. Honda Plus extends coverage of the eight systems Honda names, up to 8 years / 200,000 km, whichever comes first. Honda’s public pages do not say how Honda Plus treats hybrid-battery components. Ask your advisor to explain what the contract provides before you commit.
For the eight systems Honda names, see what Honda Plus covers. For the factory terms, read Honda’s factory warranty in Canada.
Charging cables and chargers
Charging cables, and chargers at home or anywhere else, are excluded from Honda Plus. If a cable or charger fails, Honda Plus does not pay for it, so ask the maker or seller about its own warranty.

The vehicle on one side, the equipment on the other
The charge port is fitted to the vehicle. The cable you plug into it and the charger at the other end are separate equipment: Honda Plus excludes them, as it excludes the high-voltage battery, which Honda’s factory warranty covers for 8 years / 160,000 km.
Honda’s public pages do not say how Honda Plus treats the charge port and the other components specific to an electric vehicle. Ask your advisor to explain what the contract provides before you commit.
What if an electric vehicle’s battery is fully discharged?
If an electric vehicle’s battery is fully discharged, roadside assistance tows it up to 50 km to the nearest public charger, dealership or home charger. With Honda Plus, roadside assistance is extended at no extra cost.
To reach Honda Plus Roadside Assistance, available 24 hours a day, use the contact details Honda Canada publishes in the Roadside Assistance section of its website, or speak to your Honda dealer. The list of services and how long roadside assistance lasts are on the Honda Plus roadside assistance page.

How much coverage is left on my vehicle?
Honda Plus is counted from your vehicle’s original delivery date at 0 km, not from the day you buy the plan. Waiting does not move your coverage forward: an 8-year plan still ends 8 years after delivery, or at its km limit, whichever comes first. Honda also recommends buying when you acquire the vehicle.
Example only, not a quote: on an 8-year / 200,000 km plan, a vehicle that is already 3 years and 60,000 km old has at most 5 years / 140,000 km of Honda Plus coverage left.
