Extended warranty: how to compare Honda Plus quotes
To compare two Honda Plus quotes, check the term, the kilometres, the benefits, the mandatory fees included, the date and the service contract. Ask each dealer for a detailed written quote: it shows what the price includes.

Comparing two quotes
Two prices can only be compared when they describe the same thing for the same vehicle.
What to check on each quote
- The same term and kilometres.
- The same benefits.
- The mandatory fees included.
- The date.
- The service contract.
Why compare Honda Plus quotes?
Because the price of a Honda Plus plan can vary, and a price alone does not tell you what it includes. Honda’s own price list says the dealer may sell for less. A detailed written quote shows what you pay, and for which plan.
Honda Plus is the extended warranty presented by Honda Canada on its website and available through Honda dealers. New to Honda Plus? See the Honda Plus extended warranty.
Honda lists several plans. Up to 8 years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first. A 10-year / 160,000 km plan is also offered. The price of a shorter plan therefore cannot be compared with the price of a longer one.
Use this method on every quote you receive, including ours. It does not tell you which dealer to choose: it helps you see what each price includes.
- Honda’s reference
- Honda’s suggested retail price (MSRP), effective May 1, 2026
- What to ask for
- A detailed written quote
- Honda’s term
- Cancel within 30 days: 100% refund
How do I compare two quotes, point by point?
Put the two quotes side by side and go through these five points in order. If something is missing, ask the dealer who prepared the quote to add it in writing.
Two quotes can be compared when they describe the same term and the same benefits. A third-party plan is a different type of contract.

-
The same term and kilometres
Check the number of years and kilometres on each plan. Plan terms include the factory warranty, so “8 years” means 8 years of total coverage counted from delivery, not 8 extra years on top.
-
The same benefits
Look at what each quote states for the deductible, roadside assistance and trip interruption. Honda also lists two flexible-term plans whose first period is 4 years / 100,000 km or 5 years / 120,000 km. Ask which plan the quote is for.
-
The mandatory fees included
Ask each dealer whether the price includes all mandatory fees, then compare the two amounts before tax. The price in your quote includes all mandatory fees. In Quebec, only GST and QST are added.
-
The date and the vehicle
Each quote should carry a date and show the vehicle’s model year, model and kilometres. Honda says the prices on its list can change without notice, so ask how long the quoted price stays valid.
-
The service contract
You can ask to see the Service Provision before you buy. Honda says this document sets out all the terms and conditions, and refers you to a Honda dealer to see a copy. Look for the limits, the exclusions, cancellation and transfer.
One timing fact while you compare. Honda Plus is counted from your vehicle’s original delivery date, at 0 km, not from the day you buy. Example only, not a quote: on an 8-year / 200,000 km plan, a vehicle that is already 3 years and 60,000 km old has at most 5 years / 140,000 km of Honda Plus coverage left. See when your coverage starts.
What should a written quote show?
A detailed quote answers four questions: which vehicle, which plan, what price and what date. Without them, two prices cannot be compared.
What Honda publishes, for reference
Honda Plus comes in several plans. These are the terms Honda publishes, so you can check what a quote states:
- Term
- Up to 8 years or 200,000 km, whichever comes first. A 10-year / 160,000 km plan is also offered.
- Deductible
- $0 deductible on a covered component breakdown
- Roadside
- Roadside assistance, 24/7, is extended at no extra cost.
- Benefits
- Trip interruption: up to $500 per incident if a breakdown happens more than 100 km from home
What a quote should show
- The vehicle.
- The model, the model year and the kilometres. Canadian models up to 5 model years old and under 100,000 km. Both conditions must be met.
- The plan.
- The term in years and kilometres, and the benefits stated.
- The price.
- The total price, with all mandatory fees included and taxes shown separately.
- The date.
- The date of the quote and, if it is stated, how long the price stays valid.
Three questions to ask
- Does the price depend on another product?
- If the quote is tied to buying another product, ask for the price of the plan alone.
- Is it monthly payments?
- Ask for the total price and compare that amount. Monthly payments alone do not tell you what the plan costs in total.
- Is it really a Honda Plus plan?
- A third-party plan is a different type of contract. See how Honda Plus differs from a third-party plan.
Why not compare the price alone?
A price says nothing about the term, the benefits or the fees it includes. Look at those points first. Once they line up, comparing the prices is fair.
Ask for each price in writing: an amount given out loud does not show the plan or the fees included. See also why the price of a plan can vary.
- One plan
- 8 years / 200,000 km
- Also offered
- 10 years / 160,000 km
- Cancel for a 100% refund within
- 30 days
Cancel for any reason within 30 days of the plan purchase date for a 100% refund, through the Honda dealer. In Quebec, this Honda term is in addition to your 10-day legal right. Honda’s public pages do not say what applies after 30 days. Ask your advisor for the Service Provision.
